March is National Nutrition Month
During National Nutrition Month, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is encouraging everyone to "Get Your Plate in Shape." One way to do this is by eating the foods you enjoy while being mindful of portion sizes and total calories. Simply put, we should be aware of how much food we eat every day.
Here are some simple and practical ways you and your family can eat fewer calories, while savoring the foods everyone enjoys:
• Log it. Food logging can be a great tool for keeping track of the foods you eat and ensuring you stay within your calorie limit.
• Watch out for liquid calories. The calories in fruit juices and drinks with added sugar, sports drinks, sugary coffee beverages and soft drinks add up quickly.
